Today, we’ll identify things you can release—a habit, relationship, or pattern that no longer aligns with your journey.
Day 12: Letting Go
Toxic habits may be holding you back. The purpose of today’s exercise is to identify self-sabotaging behaviours, help you reflect on their impact, and provide alternative habits to nurture your personal growth.

Use this Toxic Habits Checklist to stop bad habits and build good habits (download here).
Step 1: Procrastination
- Signs: Avoiding tasks, making excuses, or waiting for the “perfect time.”
- Impact: Missed opportunities, increased stress.
- Action: Break tasks into smaller steps; focus on the benefit of completing the task; reward yourself for achieving the goal or task.
Step 2: Negative Self-Talk
- Signs: Frequently criticising yourself or doubting your abilities.
- Impact: Low self-esteem, reduced motivation.
- Action: Replace negative thoughts with affirmations (e.g. “I am capable”).
Step 3: People Pleasing
- Signs: Saying “yes” to avoid conflict, neglecting personal needs.
- Impact: Burnout, resentment.
- Action: Practice setting boundaries; say “no” when necessary.
Step 4: Holding Grudges
- Signs: Replaying past hurts, avoiding forgiveness.
- Impact: Emotional heaviness, strained relationships.
- Action: Write about the hurt and release it through forgiveness.
Step 5: Avoiding Difficult Conversations
- Signs: Bottling up feelings, ignoring problems.
- Impact: Miscommunication, unresolved conflicts.
- Action: Use “I” statements to express your feelings assertively; avoid “You” statements.
Step 6: Overcommitting
- Signs: Feeling stretched too thin, neglecting self-care.
- Impact: Stress, inability to focus on priorities.
- Action: Prioritise commitments; say “no”; schedule (and block) downtime.
Step 7: Comparing Yourself to Others
- Signs: Feeling inferior or jealous when viewing others’ successes.
- Impact: Decreased self-worth, lack of focus on personal goals.
- Action: Celebrate your achievements; limit social media.
Step 8: Avoiding Responsibility
- Signs: Blaming others for mistakes, refusing accountability.
- Impact: Lack of personal growth, damaged trust.
- Action: Reflect on your role in situations and take proactive steps to improve.
