The Divine Measure: Why God Is Quality, Not Quantity
By Dr. Scott Zarcinas | Author, Doctor, Spiritual Coach
When we speak of God — the Absolute, the Source, Being itself — we are not talking about something that can be measured, weighed, accumulated, or lost.
Our mind is obsessed with metrics (e.g. more followers, more money, more results), which is why we confuse the value of being with the value of having.
But God is not a quantity. God is not a thing among things, not a “bigger quantity” of anything.
God is Quality in its purest, undivided, and absolute sense.

Quality is Non-Dual
Quality is a state of being, not a state of having. It is:
-
Eternal, not temporary.
-
Whole, not partial.
-
Self-existent, not dependent on anything external.
Qualities like Love, Peace, Beauty, Abundance, Aliveness, Intelligence, Power — these are not quantities to be earned, gained, or traded. They have no conditions placed upon them.
They are unconditional states of Being, and therefore unconditional states of your true nature.
These qualities are not something you acquire; they are what you are when you rest in Truth.
Just as a sunbeam does not need to “acquire” light, you do not need to acquire Love or Peace or Abundance. You only need to remove what obscures them.
This is why quality is non-dual:
-
You don’t have “a little” love and need to get more (just like you can’t be a ‘little bit pregnant’).
-
You either are in love (in alignment with your being), or you are out of sync with it.
-
But the love itself has no opposite, no limit, no condition.
You either are in alignment with it, or you’re not.
But the quality itself — Love, Peace, Beauty, Abundance — is whole and undivided. It has no opposite. It does not fluctuate. It is not subject to conditions. It just is.
Which is why these qualities are states of Being not measurements of Being. They are foundational, without opposite. They are formless, without form. They are invisible, without colour.
Yet from these perfect states all things arise through reflections in consciousness.
Your consciousness is the medium through which Quality is known as reflected Love, Peace, Beauty, and Abundance.
Quality is the nature of God: the Unchanging, the Whole, the One. This too is your Abundant Essence, who you really are. You are quality, not quantity.
So when you live from your true essence, you don’t need more. You are free, full, and enough because you’re not living from ego’s need for accumulation (of things, power, possessions, money, status etc.), but from Spirit’s quality of expression.

Quantity is Duality
Quantity, on the other hand, belongs to the world of form — the relative, measurable realm.
It always exists in relation to its opposite:
-
More / Less
-
Plenty / Lack
-
Gain / Loss
-
Success / Failure
-
Rich / Poor
These are not qualities of being. They are fluctuations in experience, measures in time, and labels of judgement. When you build your identity around them — trying to accumulate “more” — you are building your house on sand.
Because quantity is defined by comparison, it lives within the realm of ego, time, and separation.
When your sense of self is tied to quantity — how much you have, how many people approve, how many results you see — you will always be riding a wave of instability, forever vulnerable to its crash.
This is how suffering begins: when we forget the real from the relative. When we try to measure our worth in numbers instead of reflecting our worth. When we chase what we already are but mistake it for something we must earn or possess.
We suffer because we measure what cannot be measured. Because we think the Divine is withheld, not within.
Suffering arises when we mistake quantity (what we possess) for quality (what we are).

The Shift from Quantity to Quality
To awaken spiritually is to shift your identity from what you possess to what you are.
-
From chasing more to realising you are enough.
-
From acquiring worth to expressing your worth.
-
From measuring life to embodying your true self.
This is the shift of awareness from duality to non-duality, from subjective to Absolute.
To awaken is to shift from physical to Essence, from form to Formless, from quantity to Quality.
It is the moment when you stop asking:
-
“How much do I have?”
-
“How far have I come?”
-
“How many people approve?”
And then start asking:
-
“What am I?”
-
“Who am I, really?”
-
“Am I living in truth right now?”
This shift is not just psychological. It is ontological — it is a change in your very sense of being.
You stop chasing worth, and start embodying it (“I am whole.”). You stop living for more, and start living from fullness (“I am enough.”).
You stop comparing your path to others’, and start aligning with who you already are in God (“I am one with God.”).
As this happens, you realise something profound:
Spiritual Truth is not a strategy to get more of what you want — it’s the foundation from which you realise you already are what you seek.
This is not spiritual bypassing. It is spiritual homecoming.
God as Quality in You
When you live from quality, you are no longer ruled by fear of lack.
-
You don’t need more validation — because you are Love itself.
-
You don’t need to escape — because you are Freedom itself.
-
You don’t need to prove — because you are Wholeness itself.
These are unchanging, eternal, infinite, abundant qualities, who you really are.
- You don’t “have” peace. You are peace (you are peace-full; i.e. full of peace).
- You don’t “get” beauty. You reflect beauty (you are beauty-full, i.e. full of beauty).
- You don’t “earn” grace. You express grace (you are grace-full, i.e. full of grace).
To live this way is to live from the Kingdom of God within, to abide in the unshakeable knowing that what you truly are cannot be lost, diminished, or broken.
It simply needs to be remembered, not ‘gotten’.
You are not a person trying to “get” more spiritual qualities. You are the mirror through which those qualities are reflected into the world.
