The 4 Absolute Truths of Being: Returning to What’s Always True

By Dr. Scott Zarcinas | Author, Doctor, Wayfarer

What’s in this article:

• Why many people feel disconnected, uncertain, or spiritually adrift.

• The 4 Absolute Truths of Being and how they provide orientation during life’s crossroads.

• How remembering these truths can bring greater peace, clarity, and trust.

• Why your identity, worth, and belonging do not depend on circumstances.

• A practical invitation to return to what remains true beneath life’s changing conditions.

Returning to What Has Always Been True

There are moments in life when the things that once seemed certain no longer feel quite so solid.

The goals that once motivated us lose some of their appeal. The roles we have carried for years begin to feel restrictive. The answers that once satisfied us no longer seem complete.

Sometimes this follows a major life event. A loss, a disappointment, a change in circumstances. Sometimes it creeps in as a growing sense that something essential has been overlooked.

Life may appear much the same from the outside, yet inwardly there is a feeling that something is missing.

It is often at these crossroads that deeper questions emerge.

  • Who am I, really?
  • What is true beneath all the noise and distraction?
  • Where can I find peace when circumstances keep changing?

For many years I searched for answers to these questions through books, spiritual traditions, contemplation, and lived experience. Over time, what emerged was not a collection of new beliefs but a remembering of something simpler and more fundamental.

Beneath the changing circumstances of life, beneath the shifting stories we tell about ourselves, there are certain truths that remain unchanged.

They do not depend on success or failure. They do not disappear when life becomes difficult. They are not truths we create, achieve, or earn. They are truths we remember.

Over the past thirty years I have come to see these as The 4 Absolute Truths of Being.

The 4 Absolute Truths of Being

These truths are not rules to follow or commandments to rigidly adhere to. Rather, they’re like stars in the night sky—always there, guiding you back to your soul’s home when you feel lost or at a crossroads.

These 4 Absolute Truths of Being form the foundation of deep spiritual awakening.

  1. There is nothing but God.
  2. God is always good.
  3. There is no identity outside God.
  4. The Kingdom of God is within.

Let’s discuss them further.

#1: There Is Nothing but God

This is the beginning. The most radical and most simple truth.

Everything you see, touch, feel, fear, or hope for, arises from the same Infinite Source. Every moment, every breath, every joy, every pain, is part of one divine flow.

No part of your experience, no corner of your psyche, no failure, no joy, no atom, and no galaxy is separate from this Presence. Your struggles, your dreams, even the smallest things like the warmth of your morning tea; they’re all woven into this one sacred reality.

This truth reminds you there’s no need to search for something far away. You’re already part of it.

There is no “outside” to God.  Whether you call it God, Spirit, the Infinite, or simply Life — all things emerge from and return to this unbroken unity.

If this is true, then separation is not a reality but an appearance. The loneliness we feel, the fear we carry, and the sense that we are isolated individuals struggling through life all begin to loosen.

We stop asking how to find God and begin to recognise that there is nowhere God is not.

Then the idea that you are a soul over here trying to reach a God over there begins to dissolve. You begin to realise that there is only One Being and you are within It.

There is nothing but God.

#2: God Is Always Good

This truth is rarely tested when life is easy. It is tested when circumstances fail to match our expectations.

When disappointment, uncertainty, or loss appear, can we remain open to the possibility that reality may contain a deeper wisdom than we can presently see?

If God’s goodness is not conditional, it does not depend on outcomes or appearances or conditions in which it appears.

It is therefore not a reward for behaviour. It is the very nature of the Divine. Its quality.

Goodness is the deeper pulse of Love, Life, and Intelligence running through all things, and from which all things arise.

Which means that even in what seems dark, painful, or uncertain, there is a deeper benevolence at work. Not always visible, but always present.

If there is nothing but God, and God is good, then everything reveals a hidden kindness and warmth.

This does not mean life always unfolds according to our preferences. It means that beneath the changing appearances of life there remains a goodness that does not come and go.

A goodness that isn’t somewhere else, but is the very foundation of being itself.

This does not deny pain and suffering. It means we trust the Absolute Goodness that holds it.

The spiritual journey is therefore not learning how to create that goodness, but learning to trust it. In this way, even your doubt can become a doorway into deeper faith.

God is always good.

#3: There Is No Identity Outside God

Many of us spend years carrying identities built from achievement, appearance, success, failure, approval, and comparison.

If these were gradually stripped away, what would remain? Who would you be without the labels, roles, and stories you have accumulated over time?

The purpose of this question is not to remove your humanity, but to help you look beneath it.

You are not a mistake. Your soul is not tainted. You are not a separate self scrambling to prove your worth or trying to earn your place in heaven.

Your identity is not something you create. It’s something you uncover, like a sculpture being revealed from a block of stone.

What you find, when all that is false falls away, is Divine.

You are not a fragment. You are not “other” than. You are not a physical body trying to be more spiritual. You are Spirit expressing itself in the form of a body.

The more you remember this, the more peace returns. You stop locating your worth in achievements, titles, relationships, or appearances, and begin recognising the sacred within yourself.

So when you let go of the layers—the “shoulds” and expectations and false beliefs of who you think you are—you begin to see the Truth within.

You’re not trying to become spiritual—you’re already a spark of the Infinite, expressing itself through you.

As such, you don’t have to do anything to reach God. You are already held within God’s embrace, a Divine Idea held within Divine Mind.

You are from God, made of God, and held in God. There is no “outside.”

There is no identity outside God.

#4: The Kingdom of God Is Within

Most people spend much of their lives searching.

Searching for certainty. Searching for belonging. Searching for peace. Searching for the next thing that will finally make them feel complete.

What if what you seek is not absent, but overlooked? What if what you’ve been longing for is not “out there” in the world but within?

What your heart longs for—peace, joy, belonging—isn’t out there in the next achievement or perfect moment. It’s already inside you, waiting to be remembered.

The stillness, wholeness, and divine belonging you seek lives within your own being as the source and substance of your being.

The “Kingdom of Heaven” is not a far-off realm, nor is it some place you arrive at in the future after you die. It is here and now.

This doesn’t mean your outer life doesn’t matter. It means your outer life flows from your inner state. When you stop chasing fulfillment outside yourself and turn inward, you rediscover your true home. A home that was never lost, only forgotten.

The Kingdom of God is within.

These Truths Are Not Ideas or Dogmas — They Are Invitations

The 4 Absolute Truths of Being are not religious dogmas or philosophical theories. They are invitations into a different way of seeing yourself, your circumstances, and your place in the world.

They are not something you achieve. They are something you return to.

When you feel lost, remember: There is nothing but God.

When you feel abandoned, remember: God is always good.

When you feel unworthy, remember: There is no identity outside God.

When you feel empty, remember: The Kingdom of God is within.

These truths do not ask you to become someone else. They do not require perfection, certainty, or even complete understanding.

They simply invite you to pause, to look beyond the noise of circumstances, and to remember what remains unchanged beneath them.

The spiritual journey is not a journey towards something that is missing. It is a gradual remembering of what has always been true.

That remembering is what brings us home to where we belong.
