Your Guide to Removing the 7 Common Spiritual Blocks to Your Divine Nature
By Dr. Scott Zarcinas | Author, Doctor, Spiritual Coach
Blocks to accepting our divinity often arise from deeply ingrained psychological, emotional, and societal conditioning.
From a young age, we are taught to define ourselves by external standards—achievements, roles, appearances, and approval.
These layers of conditioning form a false, egoic identity that obscures the deeper truth of who we really are: spiritual beings, whole and divine by nature.
Emotional wounds, fear of judgement, guilt, and inherited belief systems further reinforce the illusion of separation from Source.
Over time, we begin to believe that we are broken, limited, or unworthy of the sacred. But beneath these layers lies the Truth:
We are not separate from Life, Love, or Light—we are its living expression.
The Scriptures tell us that we are gods, and the Scriptures cannot be broken. So who are we to say otherwise?
The path to reclaiming our Divine Truth begins by removing these internal blocks and restoring connection to the Divine Essence within.
Just a light bulb furnishes the power of electricity to shine its light, so too must we furnish the power of our Source to shine Its Light.
We must ‘switch on’ our power by connecting with it and allowing it to do its work through us.
Let’s now discuss the 7 most common spiritual blocks to ‘switching on’ our Divine Power and how to remove them so we can shine with Divine Light.
1. False Identity (Ego Attachment)
We mistake our ego—our thoughts, roles, achievements, and failures—for who we are.
This identification with the limited self obscures awareness of the Divine Self.
“I am not enough.” → Becomes a veil over the truth: “I am.”
2. Conditioning & Belief Systems
Cultural, religious, and familial teachings can instill limiting beliefs such as:
-
“God is separate from me.”
-
“I must earn worthiness.”
-
“Divinity is reserved for saints, not me.”
These narratives disconnect us from the direct experience of Oneness.
3. Unforgiveness & Guilt
Holding onto past pain or shame creates inner conflict.
Guilt blocks the heart, while resentment keeps us bound to illusions of separation.
Forgiveness clears the path to Love, which is the essence of Divinity.
4. Fear of Responsibility
To accept your divinity is to accept immense creative power—and with that comes responsibility.
Many subconsciously resist this because:
-
It threatens their familiar sense of powerlessness.
-
It means living more consciously, with integrity and courage.
5. Fear of Rejection or Alienation
Embracing your divine nature may challenge societal norms or relationships.
The fear of being “too different,” judged, or misunderstood can cause us to suppress spiritual truth.
6. Emotional Wounds & Trauma
Deep pain can cause us to internalise the belief that we are broken or unworthy of love or connection to the Divine.
Healing is necessary to restore the inner perception of wholeness.
7. Disconnection from Stillness
The Divine is not found in the noise of the mind but in its stillness.
Many are disconnected from silence or afraid of being alone with their thoughts.
Without silence, the voice of the Higher Self remains unheard.
Removing the Blocks to Your Divinity
While the blocks to our divinity may seem deep-rooted, they are not permanent. They persist only in the absence of conscious recognition and spiritual clarity.
The path to dissolving these illusions begins with a return to your inner truth, a process of remembering, realigning, and expressing your divine nature.
This transformation unfolds through the 3 Pillars of Spiritual Mastery:
-
Awareness helps you recognise the false beliefs and ego patterns that keep you bound to the illusion of the ‘Adam dream’.
-
Alignment reinstates your heart and mind to eternal spiritual truths like Love, Oneness, and Worthiness.
-
Action brings those truths into manifestation, allowing you to surrender your thoughts, choices, and relationships to Divine control and expression.
By working with these three principles, you don’t need to “become” divine:
You simply remove what obscures the truth that you already are Divine.
🔍 1. AWARENESS: See Clearly
The first step is to recognise the thoughts, emotions, and beliefs that obscure your Divine identity.
Common Blocks to Bring Into Awareness:
-
“I am not worthy.”
-
“I must prove myself to be loved.”
-
“I am separate from the Source.”
-
Identification with failure, trauma, shame, victimhood, or other ego roles.
Practices:
-
Meditation — Observe the inner narrative without judgment. See what thoughts repeat and where they come from.
-
Self-inquiry — Ask: Who would I be without this thought? or Is this belief absolutely true?
-
Imagination — Begin to visualise yourself as whole, radiant, and divine. Feed your awareness with affirmations like:
“I am one with Life.”
“My true Self is eternal and pure.”
✨ Awareness dissolves illusion. Truth begins to emerge when we look within, without fear, shame, or judgement.
